Minnesotans and communities impacted by the 2026 wildfires in northern Minnesota may need support long after the immediate emergency has passed. The resources below can help individuals, families and businesses as they recover.
This page will continue to be updated as additional recovery resources and assistance are identified. Eligibility, deadlines and available assistance vary by program.
Recovery resources
United Way of Northeastern Minnesota
Provides up-to-date information and resources for communities affected by wildfires, including assistance for individuals and businesses.
Head of the Lakes United Way
Disaster Relief Fund
Helps individuals and small businesses impacted by the wildfires and related BWCA closures. Applications for individuals and small businesses are open Aug. 14-24.
Minnesota 211
Connects Minnesotans with local assistance for housing, food, financial needs, disaster recovery and other services. Help is available 24 hours a day.
American Red Cross
Provides disaster assistance and connects people affected by wildfires and other disasters with available services and recovery resources.
Business resources
Arrowhead Regional Development Commission
Revolving Loan Fund
Provides loans to eligible businesses and nonprofits in Aitkin, Carlton, Cook, Itaska, Koochiching, Lake and St. Louis counties, including disaster relief loans for organizations impacted by disasters.
Northland Small Business Development Center
Provides no-cost consulting, tools and other assistance to small businesses in northeastern Minnesota.
Insurance resources
Minnesota Department of Commerce
The Disaster Information Center provides information about insurance claims and recovery after damage to a home, vehicle or other property.
