The Minnesota State Patrol’s Office of Pupil Transportation Safety has primary responsibility over school transportation safety (Minn. Stat. 169.435). The office performs required, annual school bus inspections. It also provides information about school bus driver training and educates the public about the importance of school bus safety.
Comment on proposed rules for school bus drivers
Have your voice heard. Comment on proposed rules on school bus drivers starting today, Oct. 15, until 4:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 20. The rules amend safety practices for school bus drivers when transporting students to or from school or a school-related trip or activity. These updated safety practices reflect statutory changes to school bus requirements and incorporate best practices in school bus safety developed by the National Congress on School Transportation. The rules also clarify requirements on transporting students with disabilities for consistency with state and federal law.
